Affirmations and Verbalisation
Affirmations are more than just positive statements; they are a tool to reshape your mindset and manifest self-love. When spoken allowed and with meaning, it activates the conscious and unconscious mind bringing positive talk to the forefront of your mind.
To begin your verbal affirmations, stand in front of a mirror, look into your eyes, and repeat a daily affirmation that resonates with you.
"I AM worthy of love”
"I trust in my ability to navigate challenges,"
“I AM speaking to myself with kindness”
Positive affirmations like these set the tone for a day filled with self-compassion, self-love, and positive self-talk. Personally, I find saying affirmations out loud so powerful. By engaging both auditory and verbal channels, verbalising your affirmations to yourself reinforces the positive messaging in your mind. Spoken affirmations improve focus, increase your emotional resonance, and strengthen the connection between your thoughts and spoken words.
Affirmations and Movement
One of my favourite ways to mix up my daily ritual is with movement. I love to say my affirmations out loud when I’m out and about walking. I get to move my body and repeat my affirmations with gusto, and passers by just think I am on a call. I encourage you to speak your affirmations while engaging your body enhances the mind-body connection, making your affirmations more impactful and long lasting. By using the rhythmic nature of walking you create a meditative state that amplifies the absorption of the positive messaging. Being in motion can also reduce mental resistance which allows the affirmations to permeate our subconscious more effectively.
Affirmations and Meditation
Affirmation and meditation go hand in hand. Finding the time to be still, quiet your mind, and bring in only positive thoughts is proven to benefit your mental health and wellbeing. But what if you don’t know where to start? Don’t worry I am here to help.
Find a quiet space where you feel safe and warm, sit or lay comfortably using bolsters or a blanket to make sure you are not straining, close your eyes and take a deep breath in. With this inhalation imagine you are inhaling positivity. Hold for two brief seconds, and exhale negativity. To help with your breathing and visualisation you might imagine that you are inhaling a fine pink mist of positivity, and exhaling gray smoke, expelling the negative and unhelpful thoughts from your body. Now begin your affirmations, envisioning each affirmation as a glowing light that is getting brighter with every repetition, filling your heart, your body, and your being, with love and confidence.
Affirmations and Sound
I recently had the experience of a sound bath, with sound alchemist Alice Rose, and the experience inspired me to add sound to my daily meditation ritual. I sometimes find silence can make my mind even louder, so by adding in a sound element into my affirmation meditation I am able to quiet my mind in a powerful positive way.
Start your meditation by lighting a candle, and turning on crystal bowl sounds, or pan flute sounds, whatever brings you calm for your meditation. Then focus on the smell of the candle and the sound of the crystal bowl, and repeat your affirmations with your hand on your heart. The physical connection, with the scent of the candle, and the sound of the bowls will help you stay present and clear while speaking your affirmations. Feel free to say your affirmations out loud or in your head, whatever feels right to you in the moment. Listen to your body and focus on feeling the sounds, embracing this relaxed state opens your mind to suggestion, allowing the affirmations to penetrate deeper into your subconscious.
Affirmations and Writing
Each person learns differently, some prefer listening, others need to do the task, and many absorb knowledge through note taking, this same truth can be applied to affirmations. Whether you are a natural note taker, or someone looking to expand your affirmation and meditation ritual, writing your thoughts and affirmations in another wonderful way to reinforce self-love affirmations into your day.
If you are a journal writer, dedicate a section of your journal to your affirmations. In this section write down as many things that you can think of that you are grateful for. Once your list is complete begin writing 20-40 affirmations, anything that comes to mind, without overthinking. Trust yourself that these are the affirmations you need to anchor in for the day.
Perhaps you’re not big on journaling, you can still add writing to your daily affirmation routine. I like to use my Love Up Sticky Notes to leave notes for myself all over the house, to remind myself of my commitment to self-love. Pop one on your bathroom mirror, inside of your tea cupboard, and on your desk to help reinforce your affirmations of self-love and counteract negative thinking. If negative thoughts pop up, just replace them with the empowering and uplifting words you’ve written. Whether you are writing a short note or a long journal entry, by dedicating a part of your day to written affirmations you will begin to influence your thoughts and actions. An added bonus is that as you document your journey, you'll have a physical reminder of the evolution of your self-perception, and reflect on your self-love journey reinforcing the importance of self-love in your life.
Whether through mirror affirmations, walking rituals, or meditative practices, the influence of positive messages resonating within has the power to transform your inner dialogue and guide you on your journey to deeper self-love.

Tap into your emotions and physical sensations. How does it feel to embody the affirmation? Experience the positive emotions like joy, confidence, or peace. Pay attention to the sensations in your body, such as warmth, tingling, or relaxation. This emotional connection creates a stronger neural pathway in your brain, reinforcing the belief in your affirmation.
Bring in scents that relate to your affirmation. Whether it's the smell of fresh air, a favourite meal, or favourite scented candle, incorporate these into your visualisation. Scents can trigger memories and emotions that reinforce the affirmation.

These moments, or events are often referred to as synchronicities or coincidences. They spark a sense of wonder, ignite our intuition, and guide us towards unexpected opportunities.
They nudge us to pay attention and recognise the interconnectedness of all things.

It’s the language of the Universe
This year, the synchronicities showing up in my life have been next level incredible! I’m always momentarily surprised when they do show up, then quickly settle into a deep knowing… there’s something bigger at play here. What am I being shown? What’s the message? Something to heal, learn, experience or understand?
I’ve always had a deep faith that everything happens for a reason, even if that reason isn’t always clear!
I try to pause, reflect, and listen for the message it carries. I welcome the sense of awe and wonder it brings into my life, I try to lean in and allow it to unfold.

Breaking these outdated beliefs can be a challenging process, but it is possible with the right mindset and approach.
The first step in breaking your limiting beliefs is to recognise what they are. These beliefs can be deeply ingrained in your mind, so it may take some reflection and self-awareness to identify them. Write down your limiting beliefs and the negative self-talk that accompanies them.
Once you have identified your limiting beliefs, the next step is to challenge them. Ask yourself if these beliefs are true, and if there is evidence to support them. Often, limiting beliefs are based on assumptions or past experiences that are no longer relevant.
Now take your list of your negative beliefs and reframe them into positive, empowering ones. For example, if your limiting belief is "I'm not good enough," reframe it to "I am capable of achieving my goals." Choose affirmations that directly address this. Breaking limiting beliefs requires taking action to prove to yourself that your new beliefs are true. Make it a habit, commit to repeating your affirmations daily. This will reprogram your subconscious mind. Set aside time each day to repeat - ideally in front of a mirror so you can look yourself in the eye as you say them. Visualising yourself achieving your goals and overcoming your limiting beliefs is also very powerful, this helps reinforce the positive messages in your subconscious mind. Spring is here! In the northern hemisphere, the official date is March 20th. It’s the season that always represents renewal, growth, and transformation.
As the days become longer, flowers bloom and trees bud - we start to experience the glory of the nature coming to life once again. For me, this explosion of natural beauty brings a sense of joy and positivity. Symbolising a renewed sense of purpose and inspiring new projects or goals that are very much energised by the fresh start that is Spring!

Being outdoors is a perfect way to build our connection to the natural world. ]]>With February being the month of Valentines, there’s a lot in the media everywhere about romantic relationships.
But what about the relationship with ourselves? I believe loving yourself first, is the start of a great love story. We must never underestimate the power and value in nurturing the relationship that we have with ourselves. When we start to truly value ourselves and recognise our own worth, people then show up in our lives that reflect this love and value.
What would it look like if you loved you and chose you first, every day? What would it feel like to make every decision with that love in mind. Honouring yourself in every moment?
Loving ourselves is so important because it helps us to develop a positive self image and sense of self. Meaning we truly believe in ourselves and have the confidence to follow our desired path.
When we give ourselves love freely we are better able to care for ourselves and our needs. We set healthier boundaries, and pursue goals and happiness.
This, in turn, leads to a more fulfilling life, as one is able to pursue their passions, dreams, and goals without self-doubt or insecurity getting in the way.
Accepting ourselves completely including our perceived flaws and imperfections. Treating ourselves with kindness, respect, and compassion. When one has a strong sense of self-love, they are able to take care of their physical, emotional, and mental needs, and set healthy boundaries in their relationships. Meaning relationships with others are healthier and more satisfying, as we are able to communicate our needs and respect our own worth.
In contrast, a lack of self-love can lead to self-criticism, self-sabotage, and a negative self-image. This can lead to low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and a host of other mental health issues.
It can also have a negative impact on relationships, as one may struggle to communicate their needs and assert themselves in a healthy manner.
There are many ways to cultivate self-love, including self reflection, positive self-talk, and setting achievable goals. Self-reflection involves taking the
time to be curious and understand one's own thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. By doing this, we can identify any negative patterns and flip them to positive. Affirmations are great for this positive reframe and help build a new narrative.
Affirmations are a powerful tool for helping people change limiting beliefs and negative self-talk. By repeating positive affirmations daily you will anchor in a kinder loving inner voice.

The lead up to Christmas can be exciting and joyous, making memories and connecting with loved ones.
But it can also be overwhelming and triggering.
Here’s a little meditation to help you let go of any pressure to feel a certain way over the coming weeks, acknowledge your feelings and then create some calm.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath in
As you exhale let go of any expectations and be in this present moment
Inhale and know that whatever you are feeling, it is ok
Expand into your safe space
Release any pressure you may be placing on yourself
Think about how you can give yourself what you need today
It could be some space, a bath, a walk or a conversation with a friend
See yourself nourishing you, and allowing yourself the space to connect within and listen with love
Affirm to be kind to yourself
As you feel your heart rate slow, repeat one or more of these affirmations -

✨I AM releasing any expectations

Autumn is the time when I naturally feel the pull to pause and reflect. To look and reassess what feels right and what I need to let go of. I see it as the perfect season release anything that is not serving me. Inspired by the falling leaves, I ask, “what can I let fall away?”
✨ I AM connecting to soul listening with love
If you also find, round this time of year, feeling of heaviness with an urge to release and let go then these tips may help -
Start by taking some time to look at some of the things that drain your energy, things that make you question yourself, serve no purpose and trigger you into a spiral of self doubt.
Be honest. By discovering what no longer serves you, you can start the process of removing those things to make space for better things to come into your life. When you let go of what is no longer serving you, you open yourself up to the new possibilities, growth and expansion.
So ask yourself - do I need something in my life that’s not aligned with my values? Is there space for something that’s no longer inspiring me or bringing me joy? What parts are causing stress and taking away my energy?
✨ I AM letting go of what no longer serves me
Once identified we can either accept it or change it. Change is the most empowering choice however change can be very hard to accept. It can bring up a lot of fear and resistance. We may even try to hold on tighter, especially if it was once a big part of your life such as a toxic relationship / job or maybe it’s something we’ve carried around for so long it feels like part of us, like a grudge. Honour it’s place in the past and be grateful for the experience that has led you to the present. This mindset shift is very powerful and can really kickstart the release. Remember it is ok to change.
✨ I AM embracing change
And yes, it can can be hard to trust that the new space will be refilled, so create a vision. A new vision you want to see and create. Ask yourself - what do I want my life to look like today? Start building this new life, step by step.
✨I AM trusting the journey
Look for things that nourish you, enhance your purpose, seek out what brings you joy. They will bring you the energy to do more of what you love.
It may also be helpful to note that with any change there may be some grief that comes up. Allow space for this. No judgement, just give yourself permission to feel these feelings and know that the feeling won't last forever. Finding closure can make it easier to move on
✨ I AM moving forward with grace and ease
Remember to spend time every day to reconnect with you. Listen to the whispers of your soul, honour your desires. Feel the new lightness in your being. What can you fill in this space?
✨ I AM open to new possibilities
This is so important to keep coming back to who you are and what you want.
Make it part of your daily routine. Create some uninterrupted time where you can come back you. Journal on what your feeling. Write your intentions. Hold the vision. Forgive. Let the feelings come up. Listen with compassion. Grieve. Release.
Fill the space with love. Trust in the abundance.

I hope this season inspires positive change. Remember, when you let go of what is no longer serving you, you open yourself up to the new possibilities, growth and expansion.

💛This is self love.
I know when I’ve had positive thoughts and feelings and generally been in a more positive state, life just seems to work out, to flow with ease.
However, I know it’s not possible to be positive all of the time!
Other emotions are going to come up.
I’ve found that sitting with challenging emotions, allowing them to pass through and then reflecting on what they could be teaching us really helps.
I know for me it helps give me the confidence that I can deal with anything and that when my “high vibe” drops I’m 100% ok.
I now have the ability to ride the wave.
The resilience to come out the other side.
And know I have the tools to reflect and reframe if necessary.
To me this is living a positive life!
Being positive is not just feeling “up and happy” it’s also about having trust and confidence in your ability to handle the challenges and perspective to know nothing is all negative, all the time.
This prevents spiralling deeper into the negative and stops the inner critic getting too much air time!
The mind listens to everything you speak into existence, so pick a few statements that resonate with you and repeat, repeat, repeat!
Write them down, have them in your space.
Talking positively to yourself, affirming certain statements influences your thoughts, feelings, and therefore your behaviour. This has a domino effect, and you will begin to see positivity in your environment and start energetically attracting more of what you want to you!
Remember, the energy we put out into the world is the energy we get back.
Whatever we focus on grows and we have the power and choice to focus on the either positive or negative.
Short term affirmations will immediately reframe a thought or situation from negative to positive.
Long term they can rewire and reprogram old limiting beliefs and these positive statements eventually become your new positive narrative.
Spend some time each morning and each night writing down at least five things you're grateful for. If you can, stretch this to fill a page! It could be as small as ‘I am grateful for warm water coming out of the tap’, to your friends and family.
Being mindful for just a few minutes a day shows us how to be in the present moment and in that we can understand that everything changes. Meaning that it’s easier to know the darker moments will pass too. It’s all transient. It can help you to observe any negative thoughts your brain may be serving you but letting them pass by. Take moments to visualise and feel the desired outcome. Visualise being in the feeling state of the desire completed. Let that feeling fill your body.
I know I have!
Perhaps your inner critic is shouting at you. Or you are overthinking all the possibilities of potential negative situations in the future.
It can help to shift the focus on what you did well or if there really is something you can improve on. Give energy to the solution rather than beat yourself up for perceived failure or negative outcomes. reflecting helps with re-interpreting events. To accept, rather than judge your experiences is important. Self-acceptance is an antidote for negative emotion.
The reason why I began Love Up Love You is exactly for these reasons. I found so much comfort and positivity through affirmations and meditation. The simple daily ritual of lighting a candle and writing little notes to myself helped me so much that I felt compelled to share this with people. I don’t know where I would be now without the mindset shift that doing these steps created!
