Celebrate Your Self-Love Story ❤️

With February being the month of Valentines, there’s a lot in the media everywhere about romantic relationships. 

But what about the relationship with ourselves? I believe loving yourself first, is the start of a great love story. We must never underestimate the power and value in nurturing the relationship that we have with ourselves. When we start to truly value ourselves and recognise our own worth, people then show up in our lives that reflect this love and value. 

What would your life be like if you were the love of your life?

 What would it look like if you loved you and chose you first, every day? What would it feel like to make every decision with that love in mind. Honouring yourself in every moment? 

Loving ourselves is so important because it helps us to develop a positive self image and sense of self. Meaning we truly believe in ourselves and have the confidence to follow our desired path. 

When we give ourselves love freely we are better able to care for ourselves and our needs. We set healthier boundaries, and pursue goals and happiness. 

This, in turn, leads to a more fulfilling life, as one is able to pursue their passions, dreams, and goals without self-doubt or insecurity getting in the way.

Accepting ourselves completely including our perceived flaws and imperfections. Treating ourselves with kindness, respect, and compassion. When one has a strong sense of self-love, they are able to take care of their physical, emotional, and mental needs, and set healthy boundaries in their relationships. Meaning relationships with others are healthier and more satisfying, as we are able to communicate our needs and respect our own worth. 

In contrast, a lack of self-love can lead to self-criticism, self-sabotage, and a negative self-image. This can lead to low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and a host of other mental health issues. 

It can also have a negative impact on relationships, as one may struggle to communicate their needs and assert themselves in a healthy manner.

Cultivating Self-Love

There are many ways to cultivate self-love, including self reflection, positive self-talk, and setting achievable goals. Self-reflection involves taking the

time to be curious and understand one's own thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. By doing this, we can identify any negative patterns and flip them to positive. Affirmations are great for this positive reframe and help build a new narrative.
